Nourishing Hair Oil Treatment

This is my go to hair mask whenever I feel like my hair is feeling dull, dry and damaged. It's packed with amazing nutrients that will nourish, strengthen, moisturize, fight frizz and help promote growth. My curly girls will know about these oils.

Here's What You Will Need to Make It:

- Coconut Oil 2-3 tbsp

- Avocado Oil 1-2 tbsp

- Castor Oil 1-1.5 tbsp

- Rosemary Essential Oil 5-10 drops

- Peppermint Essential Oil 5-10 drops

Instructions:

1. Add in all of your oils into a bowl and mix until thoroughly combined. Measurements do not need to be exact for this. Feel free to add more (or less) of your favourite oils.

2. Apply directly onto your scalp and massage gently. Leave this in for at least 1 hour so that the nutrients from the oils can fully absorb. Note: I like to completely saturate my hair with this treatment from root to tip and leave it in overnight as I have thick, curly hair. Experiment with what works best for your specific hair texture!

3. Transfer into an air-tight squeeze bottle and repeat this treatment 1-2 times a week.

Oils Used and Their Benefits

Benefits of Coconut Oil

- Naturally contains vitamin E which is best known for its antioxidant properties

that help reduce free radical damage and protect the body's cells

- Source of medium chain fatty acids. These FAs are more easily absorbed and

can penetrate the hair shaft to deeply moisturize.

Note: Organic, unrefined & cold pressed coconut oil is best as there is less processing therefore less nutrient loss

Benefits of Avocado Oil

- Also naturally contains vitamin E

- Sources of oleic acid and monounsaturated fats, making it one of few oils that can actually penetrate the hair shaft and moisturize your hair, rather than sitting on top and coating your hair

- These healthy fats can in turn prevent breakage by strengthening the hair follicles

Note: Also best to choose organic, unrefined and cold pressed

Benefits of Castor Oil

- Rich in ricinoleic acid, a monounsaturated fatty acid. These types of fats act as humectants and can be used to moisturize the skin and scalp

- Can help manage dandruff due to it's moisturizing properties

- Adds shine and radiance to your hair

Benefits of Rosemary Oil

- Antibacterial

- Can help manage dry, itchy scalp

Note: select organic, 100% essential oils that are alcohol free for optimal benefits

Benefits of Peppermint Oil

- Also antibacterial

- Claims to be a natural vasodilator which can improve blood circulation and in turn promote hair growth (although research is limited)

- Peppermint menthol provides a freshened smell and tingly sensation on the skin and scalp

Note: select organic, 100% essential oils that are alcohol free for optimal benefits
